A Grueling Gaze

I am awfully drawn to the darkness in this image. The dark hair, dark waistcoat, dark cravat, and dark eyebrows. I feel a dark, overcast sky hovering above. The dark stone in the background looks as if it's covered in soot from hundreds of years of wear and tear. That darkness is echoed in AL’s pining eyes and dark countenance. It’s as if her expression is an exposition of her life’s wear and tear, the weathering of hardship and struggle her mind and body has endured over the years. I see all that, but I also see AL harnessing the weight of her grueling days into a gaze that could disintegrate the granite exterior of any building or any man with a bit of guile and a simple glance. Just another shot of Suranne Jones demonstrating pure mastery and expertise in her portrayal of AL!
