Dr. Quinn
I loved this scene, even though it was the beginning of their separation. The emotional burst we saw from AW left no question as to how much AL means to her. Her indecision and mental sways back and forth regarding her courtship with AL throughout the show up until that point faded away. We know, no question, she is in love and her heart is breaking at the thought of being separated from her.
Most of you wouldn’t know this, but I can be a very passionate person. When I was a kid, I was embarrassingly obsessed with Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. (Apparently, I have always had a thing for British women). I was in love, pure and simple. I even wrote to Jane Seymour and was sent an autographed glamour shot in which her hair was permed and she was like 25 years old and barely wearing anything. Naturally, I fainted upon opening it. So, one day I was shopping at the Dollar Tree, perusing the chiclets gum section, when out of nowhere Jane Seymour walks by me!! This was in Xenia, OH people! What are the chances?? My knees buckled and I banged my face into the chiclets. After I composed myself, I ran up to her and flat out, fully committed, no hold barred, jumped into her arms and kissed her right on the lips just like AW does to AL. I exclaimed with desperation, “Dr Quinn! I don’t want you to go (tears streaming my face), can you stay all night??” After a long silence, Jane spoke, sounding surprisingly American, “My name is Cindy, I work here…where are your parents and why do your teeth look like chiclets?? Did you pay for those before you stuck them in your mouth??” It was the best and worst day of my life. •
Now, you might think Cindy wasn’t really Dr. Quinn, but then I ask you….would Cindy ride her horse home after work?? No. But would Dr. Quinn?? Yes. Chiclet chew on that for a minute and then get back to me.
