Mrs. Rawson
I know we talk about Anne Lister'’s browbeating personality, but what about Mrs. Rawson? She definitely beat some brows in her day and I bet half of them were unibrows (eyebrows were bushy & untamed in the 1830s). Anyway, we know she calls out stupidity with brashness and belittlement like she’s been training for it her whole life. •
Mrs. Rawson seems like one of those queens (the royal kind, not the pop culture kind, except, “yasss queen” would kinda fit this scene, I think.. I’m not cool or young enough to know for sure) that had jesters come for entertainment, one after another, only to kick them out or sentence them to death for being a nuisance or boring or just not that “high quality jester material you look for in a castle environment.”
I have a feeling, however, if AL would have walked in, not as a jester, but as her own badass self with her travel tales, top hat & anatomical, political, and gender-bending discussions, Queen Rawson would have remained drunkenly entertained for hourssss.
