Pride
In my mind, this scene channeled centuries of lesbian relationships, some doomed because of circumstance, some successful after years of fighting for the right to be together in a society that doesn’t deem their love legitimate. Some that never had the opportunity to begin as life would not allow it for one reason or another…perhaps one or the other did not accept who she was and instead lived unhappily married to a man, or single and alone. It represents the battles fought daily, past and present, for two women to be together and to simply have the opportunity to love each other. I think about this and it hits me just how resilient we are as human beings, as women, and as LGBTQ+ people. We are strong, capable, and we are fighters. I am proud of who I am, and I am proud of who you are. I am proud of what we can achieve and I am so proud of my innate and natural love for women. It’s actually pretty thrilling! Happy Pride month! 🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💗
